We are a group of ordinary people who follow an extraordinary person – Jesus Christ. We’re unashamedly on about him, because he is the Way, the Truth and the Life, he is the key to life and peace and joy.
Glen Osmond Baptist is a group of people of all ages and from many different backgrounds. We are down-to-earth (since Jesus is, remarkably so), and try to keep things simple, clear and loving. Loving God, loving our neighbours, loving one another – these are at the core of Jesus’ teaching and are only diminished when they’re overcomplicated.
We’re a Baptist church. This means that rather than being governed by a global hierarchy or run by a powerful few, we are a simple, independent group of Jesus-followers who simply meet together and try to follow the Bible’s teachings. We make decisions as a community together in an open and transparent way. We are associated with other like-minded churches (through the Baptist Churches of SA), but Baptists aren’t a centralized “denomination”. We’re just local Christians who want to get on with living out his message.
We’re not trying to become a mega-church. We don’t try to trap people into a religious machine. In fact, we measure success by how many strong, healthy people we can send out, rather than by how many we can draw in. If you join us, we’d love to help you get on track with God, build and train you up, and send you wherever God is sending you.
We love being an all-age church. We’re like an extended family. We love the pitter-patter (well, often somewhat more raucous thumping) of many little feet; and we also love the wisdom, experience and grace of our seniors. And the dedication of those in between. It does indeed take a village to raise a child, and that’s what we are.
And we’re a church you can join. Perhaps you’re an experienced Christian. Or perhaps you’re wanting to start at the start, with a whole lot more questions than answers. We’d love you to join us just as you are and come on the adventure of a lifetime with us as we follow Jesus together. He is, quite simply, the best. And his specialty is recycling broken lives into something wonderful.
